A Pass/Fail portable appliance tester is a straightforward portable appliance tester for anyone who just needs in-house tests. They simply say PASS or FAIL when a test is carried out. Most PAT devices are battery operated so they are self-contained and convenient to use but mains powered testers do exist however, they require AC power.
