Cable avoidance and detection tools use signals to scan the ground to help discover underground pipes or cables to avoid any risk of injury or damage to the pipes or cables. Cable locators or ground penetrating radars are used before any excavation to pinpoint exactly where the utilities are underground.
CATs are used to locate magnetic power fields, buried loaded power cables and VLF Radio signals, travelling through metallic lines such as water and gas pipes.
They are also known as CAT, Utility Locators, Cable locators, or a Genny.
