Week 1
Full Salon Health & Safety. Methods used to sterilise and sanitise tools and equipment. Operating laser machine systems, characteristics of laser, wavelengths, energy density, selective photothermolysis. Diseases & disorders. A&P relating to skin, hair and effects of hormones, the causes and definitions of hair growth. Establishing a safe environment, full laser consultation and information including medical contraindications, pre-treatment considerations, client medical history. Drugs list for either not treating client or test patch with caution. Patient consent and agreement. Treatment protocols. Safe parameters of laser machines for effective treatments. Patch testing, aftercare procedures, effectiveness of treatments. Conditions to be treated, combined laser course for all systems and treatments which includes Photo-Rejuvenation, Red Vein Removal and Laser Hair Removal using IPL and Nd: YAG Lasers. All relevant equipment, products and their use, how to prepare client for treatment. Describing the physical sensation of the treatment to the client. Protective laser goggles MUST be used by client and therapist for every laser treatment given. Full demonstrations to laser treatments. Practice sessions for students to perform laser hair removal treatments using IPL and Nd: YAG laser machines (under strict supervision) on various areas and hair types. Client aftercare and homecare advice.
Week 2 – (Mini assessment on previous day)
How to prepare client for treatment, hair types and colour which can be treated, length between sessions, aftercare treatment. Recommended session guide, The correct use of ‘Record Log Sheets’. All laser treatments are logged and dated to record any changes to medication, all areas treated. IPL and Nd: YAG fluencies of each treatment, safe parameters of laser machines for effective treatments. Patient skin type (According to the Fitzpatrick Classification for Sun-Reactive Skin Types), number of shots used and recorded per treatment, the reaction and evaluation of each treatment and cost of each treatment.
Week 3 – (Mini assessment on previous day)
Thread vein removal procedure including all above considerations using both IPL and Nd: YAG machines. Full demonstrations of performing thread vein removal on face and body areas. Safe parameters of laser machines for effective treatments. Practice sessions for students to perform laser thread vein removal treatments (under strict supervision) on face – cheeks, nose and chin. Legs – thigh to calf area, ankles and feet. Protective laser goggles MUST be used by client and therapist for every laser treatment given. Client aftercare and homecare advice. Photo-Rejuvenation treatments to treat the following: Lines and wrinkles – Age Spots – Sun Spots and Freckles Sun Damaged Skin – Acne breakouts, pigmentation marks. Redness of the face – Red Neck – Laser treatments also reduce and helps to calm rosacea. Decreases pore size. Product knowledge for professional products used, treatment preparation and set up. Safe parameters of laser machines for effective treatments. Protective laser goggles MUST be used by client and therapist for every laser treatment given. Practice sessions for students to perform laser photo-rejuvenation treatments (under strict supervision) on various areas of the body. Client aftercare and homecare advice. Aside from your practical training, your course also involves building your portfolio, home-study and assessments as required by the awarding body who require both written and practical coursework to be submitted and marked by an awarding body assessor, before you can be progressed to the assessment stage. At the time of booking and paying for your qualification, you will be sent your study materials (including: workbooks; Student Study Guide; Practical Assignment document; revision notes and a (Student Handbook) to get you started with your course work. As you complete your practical training, you can begin working on your assignments. You will require Kits, products/tools to enable you to complete your practical case studies, coursework, assessments and practical treatments are needed to achieve the qualification. You will receive your Academy of Beauty Training Certificate on completion of your course to be able to work within the industry while awaiting your certificate to be processed from the awarding bodies which can take up to 12 weeks.
