Atlas Converting Equipment Ltd. was established in 1976 and specialises in the design and manufacture of primary and secondary slitter rewinders for a wide range of flexible materials including plain and metallized plastic film, labelstock, paper & board.
The company's success and expansion has made it one of the most successful manufacturers and a world leader in slitting & rewinding technology for the global converting industry, wPHILith an installed base of more than 1000 slitter rewinders. The company has twice won the prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1983 and 1989. Atlas is the only company to have designed and successfully installed the world's largest film slitters at 10 metres wide, with the fastest slitter rewinders running at up to 1500 m/min.
In 1981, Atlas acquired Titan Converting Equipment Ltd. to add a successful range of secondary slitter rewinders to its portfolio, particularly slitters less than 2m wide for printed and laminated flexible packaging materials. Titan can now boast more than 2,500 slitter rewinder installations in over 80 countries winning the Queen's Award for Export Achievement in 1985.
Today, Atlas employs approx. 200 personnel at the purpose-built production site in Kempston, near Bedford (UK) and continues to enjoy worldwide recognition as leading suppliers of primary & secondary slitter rewinder technology for a wide range of flexible materials, mainly destined for use in the global packaging industry.
