Hematocrit readers provide a quantitative measure of the number of red blood cells present in a sample in relation to the amount of plasma. These lightweight machines are quiet in operation, and some models feature built-in digital tube readers for quick display of prompts and results. Clear, disposable tube holders allow for safe and easy clean-up in case of a sealant blowout. Plastic heparinized capillary tubes in many models eliminate the risk of infectious disease transmitted by blood via broken glass.
