Our idea for Boxes4Soldiers came when we realized how much waste was generated by care packages sent by well-wishing charities and friends and families of service personnel.
Although some military personnel received few care packages, others received loads, which were full of items they didn't need or want. The charities did a marvelous job of bringing joy to the military personnel, but the care packages were full of items that were not actually needed, but they were grateful that people thought of them.
The British Forces Post Office (BFPO) must reduce waste drastically. In Afghanistan, for example, everything has to be flown in and everything that cannot be burnt has to be flown out. A second issue is when too many 'stuff' irrelevant or not needed care package items end up in the trash that must be incinerated, adding to the smoke and work for the personnel. As a result, Boxes4Soldiers or B4S was born to resolve the problem. All military personnel, including the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and British Army, are covered by B4S.

You can use the pdf to go shopping, checking off items as you go. All you need to do is put everything in a box, fold the list and tape it to the box with all the goodies inside, then send it off to the post office.
