Starting as a simple wholesale business in modest premises, it initially focused on buying and selling unprinted paper and polythene bags. As demand for custom-printed bags grew, Burgass Carrier Bags acquired its first overprinting machinery, marking the beginning of their bespoke designed carrier bag production.
Responding to growing environmental concerns over polythene bags, Burgass discontinued its polythene bag production in 2024, shifting its focus entirely to paper carrier bags made from recycled FSC-certified paper, which are fully recyclable.
While many of the UK’s paper carrier bags are imported, contributing to significant costs and higher carbon footprints, Burgass remains one of the few UK-based paper bag printers and manufacturers, taking pride in their ability to meet the rising demand with both the machinery and skilled workforce able to create bags for this ever-increasing market.
