About us

Fine Iron Ltd is a small family business based in the heart of Wales, providing a variety of services across the UK and beyond. We can trace our Blacksmithing ancestry back as far as 1587 - a heritage that we are proud of and gives us an instinctive understanding of our craft.

Our passion is architectural ironwork and we have a select team of skilled craftsmen who use traditional and modern methods and materials to create our hand made-to-order Ironwork. We are also skilled in finishing techniques and use the latest quality paint systems and finishing methods including patination and metallisation.

Founded in 1998 the Fine Iron team has had the pleasure of working alongside a number of prestigious organisations such as CADW, English Heritage and the National Trust, working on some of the country’s most famous landmarks including The Jewel House of the Tower of London, The Albert Memorial, The Theatre Royal, Kensington Palace, The University of Hertfordshire, The Waldorf Hotel, Great Yarmouth Regeneration Scheme, Birmingham University and Cardiff Crown Court. More recently we have had the enjoyment and satisfaction of working with Dior, Ralph Lauren, The Duck and Rice and Hedonism Wines. We have also worked with several housing developers (including Spitfire Homes, Wimpey etc) and are comfortable catering for both large scale projects as well as smaller individual projects.

Fine Iron Ltd

I was looking for some metalworkers to fabricate a highly bespoke staircase for a private residence in London and reached out to Lee at Fine Iron, after seeing their online portfolio. Fine Iron were assembled a quote that demonstrated they had understood the complexity of the project, and priced different options so the Client could select the option that best suited their budget and aspirations. Fine Iron were chosen to work on the project as they were able to demonstrate that they could achieve the high quality required for the job, and had existing relationships with an artist, pattern maker, and foundry, that were necessary for the project.The final stair included bespoke artist-designed cast iron treads, bespoke stringers and was decorated by Fine Iron in their paint workshop using a high-spec Jotun paint system that was designed for the offshore oil/gas industry.The project had lots of design changes, and we requested additional fabrications during the project. Fine Iron worked hard to fit these extras within their schedule, which otherwise would have affected programme.Fine Iron were employed by a main contractor for this project so I'm unable to comment on their performance on a contractual basis. Also, I am not a QS, so can't comment on costs. However, the final product was very high quality - Lee and team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish.

Mine was a one off project staircase with oak steps and wrought iron structure. It included fine metal work featuring nature.It was carried out on time and to budget in very professional manner.I can while recommend this firm to anyone as a rare example of you getting the quality of work and service that you pay for.

I designed a large canopy for the front of my house and chose Fine Iron to manufacture this. The end result is amazing and I am extremely happy with the workmanship. I would highly recommend Fine Iron.
