From small beginnings Kocurek Excavators are now recognised internationally as the leaders in the field of the supply of bespoke excavator front end equipment and base machine modifications.
Originally founded in 1983 by David Kocurek and his late mother Rita, the company has since seen continual growth and progression within the excavator industry and this year celebrates over 35 years of trading. Initially starting out in the plant hire business Kocurek offered a range of specialist long reach excavators which were modified by the company to suit the demands of the customers. Operating out of a former farm on the outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk the company soon required additional space and so relocated just 2 miles away to Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate. The site of 2.19 acres (0.88ha) was formally owned by BT and work began in 1994 to create a purpose-built facility for the company. To date the factory at Hadleigh Road has doubled in size and the company continues to invest in both the buildings and equipment, which has seen it become one of the top manufacturing facilities in Europe. One of the key elements in successfully developing the facility has been the gathering together of a skilled and fully committed work force, some of whom have been with the company for over 20 years. With the new facilities fully functioning the decision was made to no longer run the hire fleet and to concentrate solely on the manufacture of Kocurek excavator products. In 2013 the company purchased another site of 4.08 acres (1.65ha) on the industrial estate. The site is still seeing ongoing development and part of it currently houses the companies state of the art Plasma and Gas Cutter.
