SenerTec's roots can be traced back to the late 1970s, when Fichtel and Sachs, a well-known supplier for the car industry, invented a ground-breaking combustion engine that could be used for a small scale combined heat and power (CHP) unit. The product was developed and altered over the next decade and field testing started in 1989 on 140 models - some of which are still working reliably today.
SenerTec Kraft-Wärme-Energiesysteme GmbH, based in Schweinfurt, Germany was founded in 1996, with the purpose of manufacturing the Dachs mini-CHP. In the first year of production 450 units were sold in Germany. The rapid demand for the units led to the creation of a number of SenerTec centres and a large partner network, enabling them to provide fast, quality service to all end users.
Over the past couple of decades has SenerTec expanded into Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain before being bought by Baxi Group in 2001. Originally known as Baxi Technologies, the Company operated as Baxi-SenerTec UK from May 2006 and became known as SenerTec in 2015.
SenerTec now supplies the Dachs micro-CHP - Europe's biggest selling combined heat and power (CHP) unit - and the Dachs Pro 20. Having sold over 33,000 units worldwide, SenerTec is considered to be the leading authority in the market.
The Dachs micro-CHP is a great low carbon choice for larger commercial premises and is currently installed in MOD buildings, care homes, apartment blocks, hotels, leisure centres, fire stations, NHS properties and schools.
