The story of Stonegate Instruments starts in the early 1970s when the company founded by Richard Stevenson began supplying refrigeration temperature alarm panels and control equipment to W.H. O'Gorman Ltd.
So pleased was the customer with the level of quality and service that Stonegate was quickly commissioned to provide designs for the monitoring and control of multiple evaporator refrigeration systems.
The product range continued to expand with high temperature alarm panels, annunciators and step controllers being developed to replace mechanical cam-timers. Renowned for their reliability, our step controllers are still in use throughout the industry in both primary control applications and to provide back-up for complex microprocessor applications.
In 1986, Richard Stevenson incorporated the company as Stonegate Instruments Ltd, after 15 years of successful trading and the company entered a new phase of product development and growth.
The 1990s was an exciting decade with refrigerant gas leak detection systems being added to the product range. Designed for use in both the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors, these systems comply with F-gas regulations and can detect leakage of a wide range of refrigerant gases. As such they effectively address environmental issues surrounding the leak of gases and the commercial cost of such escapes. Soon afterwards the company launched its range of Trapped Personnel Alarm Systems which quickly set new standards in this field.
In 2003, more than 30 years after founding Stonegate Instruments, Richard Stevenson retired and in April that year product development manager Shaun Evers took the helm. Having been with the company since 1988 he was ideally placed to maintain its momentum
Investment in people and technology has been crucial in helping Stonegate meet the challenges of increased legislation and fierce competition and to maintain its pre-eminence within the industry.
It prides itself on its high levels of customer service - often receiving orders for items which are manufactured, tested and despatched on the same day. This applies to bespoke as well as standard items and is a level of service even some distributors cannot match.
Working in collaboration with some of the industry's leading refrigeration companies, Stonegate Instruments designs, develops and manufactures specific solutions to meet every customer's unique requirements. In-house design and manufacturing mean short lead-times and a high degree of flexibility which our customers have come to value.
Stonegate Instruments remains committed to the philosophy of quality, service and innovation and to providing the industry with the right solutions, at the right time, on time and on budget.
