Formed in 2007, Titan Furniture are proud to address the specific issues in the supply of educational furniture and are not restrained by old fashioned ideas and practices, which could deny our children of the benefit of new technology and standards. For years children have been seated on a variety of Polypropylene or wooden chairs in the classroom, and manufactured in different styles and sizes. Provided these chairs pass the current British standards for strength, stability and safety they are welcomed into our classroom.
Titan Furniture’s first task in the manufacture of premium classroom chairs was to design and engineer a one piece Polypropylene classroom chairs that complied with a new standard EN 1729 parts 1 and 2. This initially required a full understanding of this new standard – which is split into 2 parts. Part 2 refers to the strength and stability of the product and replaces the old standard BS 5873. However, it is Part 1 which presented the most significant challenge, because this introduced new support contact points, sizes, rake angles and radii for the chairs, all of which combine to ensure perfect posture for our children.
After many months of design and development we finally achieved a classroom chair that complied with the new EN 1729 Parts 1 & 2 standard! Since then we have dispatched our chair range to thousands of schools across the UK, providing our children with the comfort and posture needed to ensure attention in class and good health in the future.
