Press Release: NMC (UK) Ltd introduces *New* Self Seal Pipe Insulation
11 July 2008
New insul XT self seal pipe insulation saves up to 50% installation time
Following extensive on-site research, nmc (uk) ltd has introduced a new pre-slit, flexible pipe insulation, with two self-adhesive strips to enable a simple and fast installation.
Called insul XT self seal, and an addition to the existing insul-tube synthetic rubber system, this latest development is ideal for fast, easy, clean and precise pipe insulation installation without the cost, mess or wastage of traditional adhesives.
The self-adhesive strips are especially beneficial for application in inaccessible areas or on pipe bends where a neat and seamless finish can be easily achieved. In trialling insul XT self seal across a range of applications, nmc(uk)ltd identified that time savings of up to 50% could be made on a typical 60m installation due to the proven closing time.
For the plumbing and heating and ventilating engineer, the product offers substantial thermal and acoustic benefits from an established, high performance insulation material whether used on cold water, heating and plumbing systems or where frost protection and energy conservation are important factors. Available in 2m lengths, insul XT self seal has a Class ‘O’ fire rating and is suitable for use within a –40ºC to + 116ºC temperature range.
It is a closed cell structure with low thermal conductivity and, like all nmc products, is CFC-free. Insul XT self seal satisfies the requirements of Building Regulations L1 and the Water Regulations 1999 Frost Protection.
