Sortimo celebrate 40 years

Sortimo, the market leader for vehicle racking & storage solutions has recently celebrated 40 years in business.
It was on 17th July in 1973 that Herbert Dischinger founded the company on an ingenious but simple idea. It was always a bug-bear for him only being able to use small boxes and bags for packaging rawlplugs and screws. He created boxes manufactured from plastic in various sizes, which fitted perfectly into the KM321 metal case. This marked the birth of his idea: “Sortimo – order with system” and it was Dischinger's wholesale business for fastening technology, in Augsburg that the idea of a mobile workshop was first developed - the van racking solution. Herbert Dischinger was an inventor and pioneer for most of his life. His excitement, precision and his spirit for innovation was passed on to the company and his attributes still live on in the company today making Sortimo the leader in its field.
A lot has changed over the past 40 years. Transport was the highest priority in the beginning and it was only later that people thought about safety for people and the goods in transit. The aim was to therefore to increase awareness of the safety and protection benefits of vehicle racking solutions. Since then, the safety of professional and protection of components in the cargo area has improved for the better.
Aviation and aerospace industries are even playing a role, with a development focus on materials, weight and resource efficiency. Alternative propulsion technology, electro mobility, cost-effectiveness and improved working ergonomics also play an important role in the further development of intelligent mobility solutions. Sortimo takes on this challenge with great pleasure and will continue to come up with exciting new products over the coming years.
