Plantsman’s Plot – September 2013 – from Palmstead Nurseries
23 September 2013
This time last year we were all proud of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
If you got to see the Olympic Park it was hard not to be wowed by the colourful plantings. James Hitchmough’s Southern Hemisphere plantings were singing their hearts out in September, and the underused bulb or Cape Hyacinth – Galtonia candicans was one of them.A useful late summer flower, white and elegant and up to 50cm tall. It needs full sun and good winter drainage but is fully hardy.
We’ve plenty on the nursery to zest up your borders.
