Ongo Homes Work Safe and Save Money.
21 July 2016
North Lincolnshire’s largest social landlord, Ongo Homes, has received essential safety training from CSS Worksafe over the last four years.
Established in 2007 Ongo Homes (previously North Lincolnshire Homes) has more homes for rent than any other landlord in North Lincolnshire. With more than 10,000 flats and houses on their books for rent, and help with repairs and improvements, Ongo are essential to the homing of individuals and families in the North Lincolnshire Area.In 2012 a training issue was identified in the safe use of mobile access towers. After identifying the need their Repairs Operation Manager contacted the leading heights safety specialist CSS Worksafe.
CSS Worksafe, with over 20 years’ experience in the height safety sector, quickly and efficiently helped Ongo, providing compliant advice and mobile access tower training for their staff at their Head Office in Scunthorpe.
Two years on a further safety training need was identified and once again they turned to CSS Worksafe. Ongo needed to arrange Ladder Safety Training and Manual Handling courses for 130 staff.
Within a month, ten programmes had been designed and delivered to all 130 operatives. Easing the logistical and operational burden for Ongo, CSS Worksafe was able to deliver both courses on the same day, with morning and afternoon session’s running back to back.
The delegate’s feedback for content and delivery was rated excellent. Both delegates and management appreciated that two courses were able to be delivered with a single day, rather than split up into separate courses on separate days.
Mick Roberts, Repair Operations Manager, Responsive Repairs & Maintenance says: “Back in 2012 we identified a need for our staff to be trained in Mobile Access Towers Safety. After researching Height Safety we got in touch with market leading company, CSS Worksafe. They offered us the course we needed for our staff, on our site, and from that point on whenever a height safety question arises we give the team at CSS a call.”
Danny Punter, CSS Worksafe Training Development Manager says: “We are proud to be providing ongoing training and equipment to Ongo Homes. Delivery of courses on Ongo Homes sites reduces the logistical problems associated with delegates travelling to a training centre. Knowing how to work safely at height, the correct equipment to use, how to carry out user checks and extensive practical exercises are all part of the course. Undertaking work at height training which includes practical exercises, rather than a classroom only course, is imperative to reducing the risk of death and injury in the workplace.”
