Coo-var cleans up college with anti-graffiti kit
21 April 2009
Coo-vars' anti-graffiti kit solved a graffiti protection problem for Bridlington Sports College with their new kits from the safety and security range.
The kits' contents, as applied by Steve Hall, the school janitor, include enough material to cover 18m2 and comes with instructions, a mixing tool and brush in one kit. Whereas some schools buy large amounts of white coatings or stain block to tackle the graffiti that is left by pupils once it has been left, Coo-var protective anti-graffiti coatings means that a single application gives an easily wiped surface from which graffiti can be removed and is low odour.
“Whilst graffiti still appears on the walls, it is now incredibly easy to be removed with the graffiti wipes” says Ivan Sharpe, assistant Contracts Manager for Jarvis, who are responsible for the schools' maintenance. Mr Sharpe initiated a test with the schools' janitor who deems the products as a huge success. Whereas before, Steve attempted to remove the markings or paint over them, one coat of clear glaze applied out of school hours gave a wipeable finish which goes on clear to existing coatings.
The offending marks can then be quickly and easily removed during the day. The janitor and Jarvis, having now successfully finishing an effected area in toilets at the college will shortly be discussing the possibility of saving time and money in other areas and buildings at the school.
