Easy-fit Earthing Bridge – maintains pipework conductivity
21 April 2009
JACOB (UK) used Maintec 2009 to promote its new new patented stainless steel Earthing Bridge as part of an integrated pipework system which maintains conductivity by bridging modular pipework connections.
Avoiding the need for fixed straps or other devices to achieve earthing continuity, the JACOB Earthing Bridge manufactured in stainless steel can be easily fitted to new or existing pipework without the need for welding or drilling.
JACOB Quick Connect is the modern solution for custom designed and built modular pipework with easily connected bends, segments and pipe sections, manufactured in mild steel or stainless steel in 1mm, 2mm or 3mm thicknesses and diameters from 60mm to 800mm diameter, with pressure tight connections. Each component has a machine-lipped end which, when fitted with a specially designed “U” shaped gasket and Quick-Connect pull-ring, creates a 3-bar overpressure certified connection.
Air movement within a JACOB pipeline is enhanced with the smooth-pressed bends, which assist airflow with the minimum of resistance. A wide range of accessories complement the pipework – inspection doors, visualisation ducts, diverters, product-control and air-control valves are all manufactured to high tolerances.
Also new for Maintec 2009, JACOB (UK) introduced its continuously powder coated pipe, with both the internal and external surfaces coated for greater resistance to corrosion and scratches, excellent conductivity, with food grade FDA certification. Paint thicknesses of approximately 30-60 microns are achieved on the inside as well as the outside of the pipe .
Process controlled powder coating of the internal bore of the JACOB pipe guarantees better conductivity due to the enhanced capability to discharge an electrical charge where there is danger of electrical ignition within the pipe. This is particularly important for ATEX applications and avoids the need for additional earthing lugs or cables. The standard colour is stone grey RAL7032 with special colours available on request.
JACOB UK Director John West said: “The introduction of the JACOB powder coated pipe, electrostatically applied on the internal and external surfaces, marks a major step forward in pipework technology and offers huge benefits for designers and process plant manufacturers, where high grade modular pipework saves time and money on installation and maintenance, all helping to make JACOB the number 1 for pipework systems”.
