New re-read functionality for QBC Star Haematology System

27 April 2009

The QBC STAR Point Of Care Haematology system now comes with re-read functionality allowing the user to assess precision as well as accuracy.

The QBC STAR Point Of Care Haematology system is the simplest solution for patient side testing. The system utilises Buffy Coat analysis technology using Acridine Orange as a fluorescent medium, and the dry reagents contained in the QBC STAR tube facilitate testing and analysis without the liquid reagents and liquid waste of impedance systems.

Combining centrifugation and analysis in one machine, the QBC STAR is a true Point Of Care system, and brings new meaning to the word simple – a fully automated CBC analysis in one simple step. Now the QBC STAR comes with re-read functionality. This upgrade allows the user to re-read a sample that has already been spun and to assess precision as well as accuracy, as testing of the same tube can be repeated for confirmation of the results.

Troubleshooting is also made easier as a tube can be removed from the STAR, assessed and then placed in the analsyer again for a second run. All new QBC STAR systems have this functionality, and older systems can acquire it via a simple software upgrade. The QBC STAR and QBC Autoread measure the clinically significant parameters most requested by physicians, and features of the QBC range include true Point Of Care, leading edge technology, venous or capillary sample, no liquid waste or reagents and no user maintenance.
