YPS banking on Rachel to bring home Barclays award!

Yorkshire Packaging Systems are pleased to announce that Rachel Johnson, our Finance and Operations Director, has been shortlisted for the Barclays Bank Annual Women in Business Awards for the Yorkshire region.
After being nominated in secret by colleagues, Rachel was surprised and highly delighted to receive her event invitation!The Barclays Women in Business Awards champion entrepreneurial and strong women in a range of industries across a small selection of categories. Rachel was a perfect candidate for the SME Business category as it called for a businesswoman who has shown exceptional abilities in mentoring other women and who have helped their company achieve significant results in the past year.
As anybody at Yorkshire Packaging will tell you, Rachel has worked tirelessly for the company since joining in 1998, but has taken on a challenging new role as Operations Director in the last year whilst maintaining her existing role. The move has been hugely successful for the business who have experienced huge growth in recent years, helping them stay focussed and committed to the excellent customer service they are known for.
Furthermore, Rachel has experienced first-hand how tough it is to be a woman in the packaging industry. It’s an overwhelmingly male-dominated field where women are not always highly regarded and their knowledge is questioned. Fighting against the mould, Rachel has become a true success story; acquiring huge sales accounts, managing difficult machinery installations and directing and shaping the company, to become widely respected in the packaging platform. Her work is truly an inspiration to all women working in the industry!
The awards ceremony will be held at Bowcliffe Hall in Wetherby on Thursday 21st June 2018. The day will a feature a talk from guest speaker Hannah Cockroft MBE, T34 Gold medal winning Paralympian and ten times World Champion, as well as a raffle in aid of the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund and networking opportunities over dinner and drinks.
