Getting a First Class Portable Appliance Testing Service
26 March 2019
Did you know that there are 16 possible faults on the top of a standard three pin plug?
We've said it before, and we'll say it again. There has been a real plunge to the bottom in the portable appliance testing industry. With immense pressure on pricing, and the relatively unpopular message of 'be compliant or risk prosecution', it's difficult to get across to the wider business community that regular inspection and testing saves businesses time and money in the long run.A serious accident, injury or incident will probably close your business temporarily (if not permanently) leading to lost production and turnover. It will damage your company's reputation, and result in a significant fine, possibly even imprisonment if no evidence of a routine inspection and maintenance regime can be proven.
There are 16 possible faults with a plug top, listed in the Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical equipment. And you would have to open the plug to find around half of these faults. We believe that the majority of Blue Chip contracts for thousands of tests are not being carried out properly because the plug tops are not opened during testing - that's right, the majority. And we can say this with confidence because of the high number of tests many organisations claim they can safely and thoroughly carry out each day.
We are a family run business, offering a first class portable appliance testing service. So those plug faults will be identified and highlighted, keeping your employees and visitors safe.
