Powder dosing technology
01 October 2019
Forward thinking companies have a habit of designing innovative products that lead the way for others to follow. Trantec Solids Handling have a reputation for designing for the future, and setting new standards in powder dosing technology.
It is common for customers to have certain requirements, for particular products. In most cases, this is the case with poor flowing materials, such as moist sand, which not only does not flow efficiently but also has an affect on productivity. What the customer is seeking is a system in which all products flowed freely and consistently using minimum manpower.Trantec’s solution comprises of modification or configuring their existing screw feeder systems without the need for costly modifications. The company offers a range of different screw feeders that are modular in design, offering easy-clean features and quick release mechanisms. To borrow Apple’s famous slogan – ‘there’s an app for that’, one would simply add the word ‘feeder’ to highlight the solutions offered by Trantec.
Since the introduction of the first Volumetric screw feeder in 1997, the company is always looking to innovate and improve their existing products. Having worked in conjunction with many food processing, packaging and Pharma/Medical sectors Trantec has focused achieving optimum performance and accuracy. This is further evident by developing feeders that are equipped with unique eye-catching features that allow processing of fine powders and large particles (harsh materials).
Based on a proven modular design, using 316 stainless steel, Trantec metering feeders offer excellent levels of corrosion and chemical resistance. The feeders are also equipped with a sanitary finish, incorporating EC & FDA approved materials of construction with crevice free internal welds and various finishes.
To withstand aggressive environments and high temperatures Trantec feeders incorporate specially designed PTFE based shaft seals, something that is beyond the capability of normal traditional seals. These are also manufactured in house using CNC machine tools.
One particular concern, highlighted within the food processing and pharmaceutical industry is to reduce the risk of product contamination. Trantec tackles this issue by using metal detectable blue silicone elastomers throughout their screw feeder machines. This can also be custom made to meet customer requirements, by using the latest 3D printing and casting technique.
As part of Trantec’s pledge to meet customer requirements, downtime is reduced by working closely with their customers to design features that produce fast turnarounds for equipment cleansing and allergen control methods.
