NDC enables rapid at-line analysis of foodstuff

InfraLab Analysers from NDC InfraRed designed to measure moisture, fat or oil and protein content.
NDCs' InfraLab at-line analyzers for the foods industry are designed to meet the need for rapid accurate analysis of key parameters such as moisture, fat or oil and protein without the need for special operator skills. The InfraLab analyzer can be used in conjunction with a PC which then acts as the interface and data storage facility to the analyzer, or as a standalone unit, with integral Operator Interface, on-board data storage, and the ability to download measurement record files to a PC via a USB, Serial or Ethernet connection.
Using the InfraLab requires no special operator skills and minimal sample preparation and is suitable for most food products in powder, flake or granular form, such as dairy powders, coffee, ground meat, grated cheese, chocolate products and grains such as wheat and oats.
InfraLab is also ideal for measuring snack products such as potato crisps or corn or potato based extruded snacks, as well as breakfast cereals, as it does not require the samples to be ground. Samples are simply presented in a bowl and the InfraLab automatically senses the presence of the sample and commences measurement. After a user-configurable measurement period of up to 10 seconds, the measurements are displayed on the VGA Colour Touch screen. With the bowl diameter of 140mm and a depth of up to 50mm, the sample size helps to guarantee more representative sampling.
With a single press of the touch screen, the display toggles between just the current measurements and all sample measurements made on that product so far with date, time and operator tag.
Where multiple operators will be using the InfraLab, the user software hierarchy can be configured by the supervisor for each user with an individual password and set of permissions: these could range from simply the ability to log in, select a product and measure a sample, to full set-up capability.
The on-board memory holds up to 1,000 sample files, but with the GaugeToolsXL™ software provided, files can be conveniently downloaded to PC via the USB, the Serial or the Ethernet port provided.
For users who want to undertake more data analysis, or who have a wide range of products and measured parameters, then the InfraLab Product Manager PC Software enables users to have textual and graphic displays of data, with full Windows ™ style file management, as with the previous InfraLab range. InfraLab in either format can be calibrated to the customers' choice of reference method such as gravimetric oven or wet chemistry.
