Consumer demand drives the need for production scale freeze dried pet food
09 March 2020
As people realise the benefits of better nutrition for their pets, so the use of freeze dried pet food is on the rise!
As consumers demand better nutritional value from their pet food, so more companies are looking at supplying the market. With global demand for freeze dried food projected to continued to grow at around 7.8% and natural dog & cat food worth in excess of $700million according to GfK data.In the United Kingdom the dry dog food market was worth £576 million in 2018. Dog food had the highest sales volume worth approximately £1.4 billion, closely followed by cat food at £1.1 billion.
Freeze dried pet food is by far the best way to maintain the nutrition, taste and smell of products when removing the moisture. If you combine raw ingredients with supplements, cooking or baking could diminish the goodness in the foods.
Due to a growing demand from the marketplace, it is imperative that freeze dried raw pet food is biologically the same as raw pet food. Freeze drying enables for dehydration to occur without significant denaturing of the proteins, which is largely due to the low temperatures and gentle conditions involved.
