Tunics donation heads to Africa
07 October 2021
You may have seen that we recently donated a large amount of unused stock that we could no longer utilise to a number of wonderful charities that are doing amazing things across the globe. One of the organisations was the UK-based United African Association who received some tunics for use in various clinics and hospitals across Africa. Here, Anne Wankiiri, head of the association, has given us some lovely feedback that we wanted to share.

Here, Anne Wankiiri, head of the association, has given us some lovely feedback that we wanted to share.
“United African Association is a charity based in Northampton. We support mainly the African and also the wider community in Northamptonshire through the provision of food parcels for families and individuals that have been struggling since the pandemic, and provide other support services, liaising with local authorities, social services and other charitable organisations.
We also run wellbeing sessions for the local community and hold cultural activities such as African drumming, which are open to all. “Another important element of our work is collecting and transporting medical items to various countries in Africa through our bank of volunteers who have connections with hospitals and clinics where the need is greatest. And this is where the tunics donated by Grahame Gardner are heading. “We wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks so much for the donation of the tunics. We have handed them out to volunteers who will be exporting them primarily to Zimbabwe but also Kenya, Demoratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Ghana and South Africa.
The ones to Zimbabwe have already been packed and are making their way there shortly. The two lovely ladies pictured have already collected their 'share' for Zimbabwe where they will be donated to clinics and hospitals there. “We are so grateful to you all for your generous donations. Grahame Gardner Ltd really is making a massive difference in providing uniforms to medical staff who are without quality workwear. “We really appreciate the very kind gesture.”
