CPD accredited professional training courses from Hospital Direct

03 September 2007

Hospital Direct is now offering a range of CPD accredited professional training courses led by a team of specialist trainers.

Hospital Direct has more than 12 years experience in manual handling.  Over this time they have become specialists in the field of patient handling equipment of a small and lightweight nature.  They are well respected in the professional sector of the NHS and Social Service, not only for the products they supply but also the problem solving service they offer.  With a number of their staff competently trained as manual handlers they can ensure that they know in detail the problems that staff experience when moving people and it enables them to develop revolutionary solutions to problems experienced.

Over the years they have continually extended their product range, as they carry on developing products to overcome the specific manual handling problems that they or their customers have come across.  This in turn has resulted in the development of a diverse and innovative product range that will ensure the majority of moving and handling issues professionals experience is resolved.

Due to this expertise and the experience gained from working closely with the health industry for over 12 years, Hospital Direct are now offering a variety of courses to suit all levels of competency in manual handling, which are CPD accredited.  These courses include Health and Safety, Basic Manual Handling and Specialist courses, such as Paediatric, Motobility and Theatre Handling.

All courses have both theory and practical elements, making sure that attendees get the most from the course and gain invaluable knowledge of appropriate skills to overcome common problems.

These courses are being run by nationally acclaimed manual handling specialists, who are recognised for their competence and skills in this field generally and who have further been able to develop specialist areas of skill in particular fields.  The lecturers include Jean Bish, Linda Ward, Sue Ruszala, Sheenagh Orchard, and two of their staff who are highly trained and experienced in manual handling training; Helen and Rebekah Gutteridge.

Susan Hawkins, Ergonomics and Back Care Facilitator at Musgrove Park Hospital, attended a Product Familiarisation day recently and made the following comment:

“The familiarisation day was a well organised and relaxed day.  An ideal opportunity to meet and network with other healthcare professionals and problem solve issues.  Suitable time was allocated for both discussion and to ‘play’ with a variety of equipment.  An opportunity to explore a variety of different clinical situations and look at relevant handling aids.”

Courses are held in our bespoke training facility based in rural South Shropshire, which is fully equipped with the latest equipment, and locally produced lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day.  Alternatively we do offer on-site training and can tailor courses to suit the specific needs of the organisation.
