A clear sign 2023 is in full swing is Samsung’s annual new phone launch in February, which kick-starts the smartphone market for the year. In effect, Samsung put out a marker to see whether any smartphone rivals can overtake it.
Last year the focus shifted to Apple with their new iPhone release in September. However, 2023 could be different. As Samsung release its S23 range (the year is 2023 for any readers who hadn’t quite twigged), the team at Phone Hire are excited. Normally we’d be eagerly awaiting the Samsung Galaxy S23 (standard size) release as these tend to be the most popular sized devices. This year we cannot wait to get into the Samsung S23 Ultra. The new Samsung S23 Ultra is even more impressive and eye-catching. It’s only mid-February and Samsung could well be in with a chance of releasing the best smartphone of 2023.

As with every top-level smartphone, the new S23 Ultra phone is not cheap. Its starting purchase price is over £1,249 so not for the faint-hearted and you’ll need deep pockets; not only to purchase it but to fit the S23 Ultra inside them. Skinny jean lovers…this 6.8’ S23 Ultra won’t work...!
What do you get for your money...? Well, Samsung’s new flagship S23 Ultra smartphone is special. The S23 Ultra has a phenomenal new screen - a sublime new design (it’s less clunky in look and feel than the S22 Ultra) and it’s very elegant with the rear case covered in a matt finish that stops those annoying fingerprints (yes honestly!).
Power wise the S23 Ultra is very good; running on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which is truly mighty.
Moving onto the new camera. To be fair, Samsung’s cameras rarely take a bad photo and that’s why Samsung has such a huge array of fans as their camera suit both amateur and professional photographers. Even new amateur-level photographers can take some stunning photos with a Samsung android camera and the S23 Ultra will take this up to a new level.
That's all thanks to a new 200-megapixel sensor, which not only offers some impressive features such as 100X zoom. At the back of the camera is a quad set-up involving a 12MP ultra-wide camera (up from 10MP in the S22 Ultra), a truly impressive 200MP main sensor and dual 10MP telephoto lenses that offer 100X zoom. Should you find yourself at a sporting event or concert any time soon the S23 Ultra smartphone 100X zoom will stun you with how clearly the artist or players focus on the snap.
At Phone Hire we work with many different types of creatives and the S23 Ultra will be an absolute must for our creative customers. The video-capture element is superb; with the S23 Ultra able to film in 8K as well as produce excellent stabilisation and extremely smooth footage.
You’ll also be left in awe of the ability to take crystal-clear images at night..! Filming is also very good at night, even in low light.
Battery life is also impressive thanks to the Gen 2’s efficiency as well as a massive 5,000mAh power pack built in under the shell. This means you can easily get a full day’s use out of it.
As always, there are some good extras (5G for example, although 5G connectivity across the UK still remains a big issue, it will run 4G much quicker as a result). The Samsung S23 Ultra also provides the S Pen which is great, although we still believe for the money you’re spending that you should get a charger plug with it (£44.00 – ouch!)
