C/S PROVIDES PROTECTION AT ALDER HEY

C/S delivers a bespoke interior wall design using its Acrovyn textured sheeting at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
To create a welcoming and comfortable environment for the young patients and families visiting Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, C/S has delivered a bespoke interior wall design using its Acrovyn® textured sheeting, the final part of extensive refurbishment at the hospital. In conjunction with project architect’s Mersey Design Group, C/S specifically designed the walls of the children’s ward to give a sense of being outdoors, which is proven to significantly improve patient recovery time. Providing impact protection to vulnerable zones, 2mm Acrovyn® textured wall sheeting was installed by Conspec Contracts, C/S’ in-house installation team, to match and complement the architect’s designs and colour schemes for the flooring. “Acrovyn® was specified because it offers excellent impact resistance to the many everyday knocks of busy hospital life,” commented John Williams, Capital Projects Manager, Estates Department, Alder Hey Hospital. “The Conspec Contracts team installed the sheeting in line with the complex aesthetic designs set out by the architect.
The finished building fabric will reduce the life cycle costs and help us to maintain a functional building for many years.” The Acrovyn® textured sheet was carefully pre-cut into shapes and applied to create a rainbow of colours to the lower part of the walls in the main entrance and lift areas in Spring Green, Anise, Lilac, Ocean Blue and Harvest Gold. In the Burns Unit, Hunter Green, Burgundy, Harvest Gold, Yale Blue, Salmon, and Pacific Blue Acrovyn® colours were installed up to mid-wall height in order to match the flooring design, while Spring Green sheeting cut into the shape of hills was incorporated into the MRI facility to create the feeling of open space.
In line with Approved Document M for compliant wall and door protection, Acrovyn® plates, shaped Acrovyn® kick/push plates and Acrovyn® corner guards SM20 and SM135° were also applied in the reception area, Burns Unit and around the hospital corridors.
