Application Ready, High Performance Embedded Box Computer

Ascot, August 7, 2007, – Advantech Embedded Computing have released the ARK-5280, a high performance, robust and fanless Embedded Box Computer supporting UFCPGA2, 478-pin embedded Intel® Pentium® M or Celeron® M Processors and integrating graphics and audio support. PERFECT!!!

The ARK-5280 also supports Intel® 855GME chipset with Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) and 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH). Encased in a compact sized (137 mm x 189 mm x 221 mm) self contained and extremely robust cast aluminum chassis, the ARK-5280 offers scalable CPU performance, flexible I/O expansion (customization support available), few moving parts and a smart design that makes mounting, maintenance and upgrades faster and more efficient. The chassis lends itself well to vibration resistance that is further aided by anti-vibration cushions for the HDD as well as for add-on cards inserted into the dual PCI expansion slots.

 Solid Performance and Reliability

With the 855GME’s integrated graphics and audio support, plus a generous amount of I/O flexibility, the Intel micro-architecture meets current and future demands of high-performance; low-power embedded computing typical of enterprise communications applications, transaction terminals, interactive clients, and industrial automation applications such as embedded system applications for machine automation, and industrial plant and cabinet integration. Plus, the system architecture is software-compatible with previous members of the Intel® microprocessor family and is part of Intel’s comprehensive embedded long life cycle support.

Strong Graphics and Expansion Support

The integrated Intel 855GME display controller utilizes Intel Extreme Graphics 2 technology with Display Memory Optimized Shared Memory Architecture with 64 MB frame buffer support using system memory and has dual independent display support as well as built-in CRT/VGA and DVI interfaces compliant with DVI specification 1.0 with optional support for a LVDS Interface. Resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 @ 24 bpp (75 Hz) are supported. A wide range 9VDC – 32VDC power input is supported, typical of the needs of automation environments.

Featuring two PCI slots for application expansion and system integration, the ARK-5280 Embedded Box Computer has four USB 2.0 and four serial port communication I/O interfaces. It can support up to 2 GB DDR 200/266/333 SDRAM of main memory. Based on a half-size slot PC and backplane, these platforms offer many configuration choices for CPU, memory, HDD, and CompactFlash disk. The ARK-5280 Series targets machine-level industrial PC applications and higher-level operations that involve data acquisition, distributed process control, database management on a site server and field I/O control. All such systems demand a high performance CPU and configured expansion via PCI slots.
