Zaun Fencing making curved corner panels for sports fencing
27 March 2007
Zaun Fencing are manufacturing curved corner panels for sports fencing and MUGAs. This keeps the ball in play and makes the playing area safer.
ZAUN’S latest curved panel, used for the first time in a Midland contract, is winning favour with specifiers. The Radius Panel has been developed by the Wolverhampton based company as part of its Multi Use Games Area package and keeps the ball moving, as well as avoiding injury blackspots.
‘With the conventional corners, games can be stopped because of balls becoming trapped and this can lead to player rage with people kicking out wildly to free it,’ said Paul Painter, Zaun’s sales director. ‘To combat that we developed the curved panel and we are finding that it is increasingly being specified by architects. With all our products we are looking to provide the market with a solution to any problems that arise and this is just such an example. This panel can be used on pitch corners and goal mouths.’
The Radius Panel was installed for the first time at a MUGA contract in Leicester, with Zaun supplying both the fencing and basketball equipment. The manufacturer has also developed specialist rubber inserts to cut down noise between the panels and posts, and these are made from specialist material that is resistant to UV, ozone and oxidants and other factors that could degrade the rubber.
‘It is this attention to detail that helps maintain our foremost position in the market,’ said Painter, ‘and we are continually looking at other progressive steps to enhance our product range.’
Two other high profile contracts to be won by Zaun involved the supply of fencing and handrail barrier for Shrewsbury College new floodlit racetrack and athletics arena as well as providing various types of fencing for the UK’s first ‘sports barn’ in Blackpool. The barn is a multi purpose facility, which can be used for a variety of sports.
