Create a Living Roof Step by Step
21 January 2008
Q Lawns have published a step by step guide to creating a green roof using Enviromat sedum matting.
This handy A4 sized guide lists the materials needed to bring life to flat and gently sloping roofs on sheds, home offices, bird tables, rabbit hutches, log stores or any other garden structure large or small.
The instructions can also be adapted for unsing Enviormat on hard surfaces such as man-hole covers.
Enviromat sedum matting is a simple way to bring colour and life to a garden. It consists of three, fully integrated layers: A geotextile with knitted loops which holds everthing in place; a growing meduim created from recycled building materials and specially formulated for growing sedum plants; and the vegetative layer - a random mixture of seven diferent low growing sedum species specially chosen for hardiness in challenging conditions.
Enviromat Sedum Matting comes with 95% plant coverage and once established, needs very little maintenance making it ideal for use of roofs, banks and hard to reach areas of the garden.
