Datashred asks, are you sure your data is secure?
02 June 2011
According to PHS Datashred, despite increasing media coverage on the subject of data protection, many businesses and organisations are still unaware of the rules, regulations and guidance surrounding the storage and disposal of confidential information. National Identity Fraud Prevention Week has found that just 56% of businesses have put in place a clear policy on how to handle documents that include sensitive information.
Clearly, more needs to be done by businesses to ensure that they not only comply with the relevant legislation, but also protect the confidentiality of employees, suppliers and customers.In order to help organisations to assess their current situation when it comes to information confidentiality, PHS Datashred has developed an online "healthcheck" tool. This simple questionnaire enables the organisation to see what improvements could be made to their policies and processes, with practical guidance on how to become more secure and compliant.
PHS Datashred Commercial Director, Anthony Pearlgood;
"It's vital that businesses and organisations fully assess what procedures they have in place on a regular basis, to make sure they're keeping up with legislation and keep one step ahead of identity thieves. Datashreds'healthcheck is designed to offer guidance and advice for anyone who is unsure about what businesses should be doing, to keep their information safe and secure."
