Candidate Mail
Stockcode:
In the run-up to every UK General Election, candidates running for a Parliamentary Constituency seat are allowed to have one direct mail campaign or 'Candidate Mail' delivered without charge by Royal Mail.
This direct mail is delivered to either each household within the constituency (if the mail is unaddressed), or each eligible elector in the constituency to which they are a candidate (if the mail is addressed).
Importantly, although there are no postal costs, the design, printing and fulfilment of each piece of direct mail still need to be paid for by the candidate.
There are two ways a prospective candidate can take advantage of the Candidate Mail process:
1) Create your Direct Mail, handling the artwork creation, printing, finishing and artwork and fulfilment approval process, and working with The Royal Mail directly. If you choose this option, you are strongly advised to read through all the information on this page and digest it thoroughly. This guidance is based on Royal Mail Candidate Mail advice and accurate to April 2017.
2) Work with an approved Mailing House supplier of Candidate Mail who will handle the artwork creation, printing, finishing, and artwork and fulfilment approval process on your behalf. If you choose this option, your Mailing House partner will do all the necessary legwork for you to ensure your Candidate Mail is correct, artwork approved, sorted and delivered.
