Since 1890, Whitmore's Timber Co Ltd has been providing the nation with high-quality hardwood products sourced responsibly.

As a traditional hardwood timber supplier with decades of experience, we serve the nation from our Midlands depot in Leicestershire, maintaining a strong focus on quality.

After acquiring numerous timber businesses over the years, our company retains a wealth of knowledge, boasting over 300 years of combined trading experience. This extensive expertise allows us to provide a comprehensive range of products, from raw hardwoods to precision machine-finished components.

Our Products & Services Includes:

Machining
At Whitmore's, we provide in-house services such as custom sawing, precision machining, detailed drilling, and CNC operations. We offer a distinctive service tailored to meet your bespoke manufacturing needs with fast turnaround times. Our knowledgeable team is readily available to discuss and fulfill your specific requirements. In addition to bespoke manufacturing, we also offer a standard selection of profiles including cladding, flooring, and skirting options.

Laminated & Engineered Sections
With our two laminating press systems, we can create custom section sizes tailored to individual customer requirements. We have the capability to laminate sections up to dimensions of 300mm x 300mm x 4.50m. Laminated timber is increasingly favoured in the construction industry for its exceptional stability and is often chosen as an alternative to steel, concrete, and solid hardwood in engineering and architecture. These laminated products are renowned for their durability and can perfectly meet the specific needs of your construction project.

Visual Strength Grading
We grade structural hardwoods according to BS 5756:2007, which outlines the visual strength grading specifications for hardwood. These hardwoods are categorized into strength classes as defined in BS EN 338:1995 for structural timber. Our range includes graded hardwoods such as Oak, Chestnut, and Iroko. Vacuum Kiln Drying
Drying timber in a kiln is a skill that requires extensive experience to master. Since 1984, we have utilised vacuum kiln drying at our Claybrooke Magna site. This method enhances timber stability, maximising its natural strength and resistance while minimising drying defects like checking and cracking. In addition to drying our own stock, we offer kiln drying services for customer-supplied timber.

Tooling
With our in-house tool shop, our skilled professionals can custom-make knives and cutters to meet your specific needs. If you provide a template, we can also offer a precise profile matching service with fine tolerances and high standards. We ensure nationwide delivery for orders of any size, accommodating all requirements.

Oak Structures
Whether you prefer a classic or modern aesthetic, oak framed buildings can elevate any property and increase its value. Our range includes traditional cart lodge style garages, garden offices, and porches, all available as self-assembly structures that you can customise to suit your specific preferences.

My son is at college and has to have good quality hardwood to make furniture. This place was the best by far for both price and quality of kiln-dried Ash planed and cut to size. Everything was done over the phone and prepared in advance so all we had to do was turn up and collect which was very smooth. Great service I can only assume a good price as I can't find better and the quality looks amazing.
