Turner Access demonstrates how best practice in Access & Scaffolding is achieved
Turner Access exhibited at this year’s Safety & Health Expo, offering guidance on how to achieve best practice in access and scaffolding.
Best practice is achieved by reaching the highest level in safety standards. Turner Access can offer practical advice, equipment recommendation and a range of collective (passive) fall protection solutions to ensure users of temporary equipment are protected during assembly, alteration and dismantling procedures.Best practice is also achieved by minimising cost through improved efficiency. This is achieved by selection of appropriate equipment. With over 25 years experience in scaffold provision, Turner Access can offer access and scaffolding evaluation of any commercial or industrial site and recommend the most appropriate equipment solution with detailed justification. Site evaluation will include identification of areas of cost saving and improvement suggestion in relation to health & safety and corporate sustainability in general.
On selecting the most appropriate access equipment for the job, the user and persons responsible for the system of work process selected, must understand that justification of choice should be made against what can happen, before it happens. Therefore, it is essential that duty holders understand the statutory requirements, in particular the Work at Height Regulations 2005 (6:3). Duty holders should be asking:
- What risks are associated with the equipment type or category selected?
- What equipment in that category removes those risks?
- Is the product tested to product standards with 3rd party verification to prove this?
- Can training be obtained to ensure full understanding and compliance with statutory regulations?
