Spacetherm Keeps It Cool
The A. Proctor Group have manufactured a bespoke fridge using Spacetherm® thermal insulation for the yacht Lynn Rival, owned by Paul and Rachel Chandler.
The specification was to make the bespoke Tektanks fridge as thermally efficient as possible within a restricted space. Using 6 layers (60mm) of Spacetherm® Aerogel Blanket we were able to give the fridge tank sides a U-Value of 0.22 W/m2K.To keep the super insulation safe and able to work for the duration of it’s 60 years plus life expectancy we had the newly insulated tank encapsulated by Aim Developments in Spectraplan, a highly durable membrane that is resistant to most marine fluids. This project yet again showcases the A. Proctor Group’s ability to successfully deliver engineered solutions for demanding applications and requirements in varied markets.
The Spacetherm® Blanket consists of unfaced sheets of high performance aerogel composite insulation. The possible applications of the Spacetherm® Blanket are virtually limitless as it has been used in doors, shutters, window reveals, boats, swimming pool covers and numerous other applications where thermal performance, space and thickness are critical.
The Spacetherm® range of high performance laminates provides unrivalled performance for thickness, with a class leading thermal conductivity of 0.014 W/mK. This outstanding performance is delivered through the use of Aerogel insulation, which can be bonded to various facings, thus providing a traditional thermal laminate board with performance far in excess of anything previously available.
