A Revolution Underneath Your Feet!

Dirty Floors, Problem Floors! A revolution is taking place…right underneath your very feet!

Solution Cornwall Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of award winning detergent free cleaning solutions and nano-based protective coatings, introduce a new standard in floor care.

The Xcalibur Floorcare system is a topical floor treatment that enhances both the appearance of Resilient and hard flooring including wooden flooring. At the same time this makes it safer underfoot whilst offering protection from wear. The floor is sealed against wear and damage from normal foot traffic thus making it easier to clean and maintain.

Nick Vousden-White, MD of Solution said that Xcalibur is one of two new Floorcare systems Solution are offering to customers in the UK, that utilises Advanced Polymer Adhesion Technology©. Solutions research and development department have produced this new and technologically advanced coating system, to offer customer’s unrivalled performance, exceptional durability and significant cost savings in use!

For a long time the UK industry has been working in the shadow of both American and European countries for floor care standards. This has mainly been due to cost and labour issues with companies fixated by price, rather than giving customers quality!

To prepare a floor for coating is of course a necessary and labour intensive operation, but one that can be made easier and more productive with good quality cleaning products, proper training and the use of appropriate floor cleaning equipment.

With current UK standards it is common for floors after the stripping operation to be finished with either 2 coats of sealer, or 2 coats of polish, but not normally together! This offers only a short-term solution to a long overdue problem, because with current UK floor coating technology, it simply doesn’t stand up to foot traffic, leading to frequent stripping and refinishing!

On the other hand we have American and some European countries that choose to strip and coat with a combination of sealers and polish, sometimes up to 10 coats or more! This they feel then gives them the option of maintaining the floor without the need to strip it back. Whilst this certainly provides the look and increased durability, it will at some point require that the whole process be repeated.

Now you have an alternative! Solutions Xcalibur floor coating looks like polish, but because of its Advanced Polymer Adhesion Technology©, acts as a sealer at the same time. Protecting from the heaviest of foot traffic with unsurpassed durability and all with a maximum of only 3 coats!

It is very easy to maintain simply by damp mopping or auto-scrubber machine cleaning with Xcalibur Neutral Cleaner. Once dry the floor can then be burnished with an UHS Burnisher to restore its gloss appearance. Alternatively, if a matte appearance is preferred simply avoid the burnishing operation.

Once a-week damp mop or scrub clean with a dilution of Xcalibur Maintainer to repair wear damage and again burnish if a gloss appearance is desired.

The Xcalibur floor coating system is a semi-permanent surface treatment that if properly maintained will never need stripping back to virgin floor. To restore a deep lustre and repair heavy damage periodically deep scrub the floor with Xcalibur Maintainer Concentrate diluted accordingly, then allow the floor to dry and apply 1-2 coats of Xcalibur Restore Coating.

The process and method in more detail:

To remove old or worn coatings

The floor regardless of composition (with the exception of wood, which should sanded back) should be stripped using a 1:4* dilution of Xcalibur HD Stripper Concentrate and cold water. Using a black stripping pad fitted to a low speed rotary or Oscillating Pad Machine, 2 stripping passes should be made and the resulting slurry recovered with a suitable wet pick up machine.

1:8 dilution when stripping Linoleum, Thermoplastic* or Rubber flooring.

* Substitute, a Black-Stripping Pad for a Red Cleaning Pad when cleaning this floor type, otherwise damage can result. Also, work in smaller areas controlling the stripping solution and reduce the moisture contact time.

Always check for pre-existing problems and damage to the floor, highlighting these with your customer. Also, take the necessary PPE precautions and thoroughly pre-test all intended cleaning products for suitability of use; also assessing method of cleaning for any
detrimental effect.

The floor should then be fresh water rinsed 2-3 times to remove any chemical residue. Once dry the floor should be checked for contamination. If residuals remain from the original coating, then they need to be completely removed by stripping again. Thorough rinsing should follow.

Once dry and you are satisfied that the floor is ready for coating apply 3 coats of Xcalibur RTU High Gloss Floor Coating with a suitable lint free finish applicator. Allow up to 1 hour in between coating.

The floor can be subjected to light foot traffic after 2 hours.
The floor can be subjected to normal foot traffic and wear after 8 hours.

On porous and micro-porous surfaces expect full curative hardness and maximum protection is offered after 150 hours.

Maintenance-Daily

Damp mop or auto scrub clean with Xcalibur Neutral Cleaner Concentrate diluted from 1:25 to 1:50 depending on soil levels. Allow to dry and then dry burnish with a clean polishing pad fitted to an UHS Burnisher of 1500 rpm or higher.

Maintenance-Weekly

Once a week in place of using Xcalibur Neutral Cleaner Concentrate, clean the floor with Xcalibur Maintainer Concentrate diluted at 1:50 with cold water. Allow to dry and then dry burnish with a clean polishing pad fitted to an UHS Burnisher of 1500 rpm or higher.

If a matte appearance is required do not include burnishing as part of the regular maintenance schedule.

Restorative Treatment-As and when required.

Deep scrub clean the floor with a 1:50 dilution of Xcalibur Maintainer Concentrate, allow to dry and apply 1-2 coats of Xcalibur RTU Restore Coating using a suitable lint free finish applicator. Allow up to 1 hour in-between coating.

The floor can be subjected to normal foot traffic and wear after 8 hours. Thereafter follow daily and weekly maintenance procedures.

If the floor is subjected to heavy soiling from oil and grease based contamination, then clean using a 1:20-1:50 dilution of Xcalibur Degreaser Concentrate mixed with water.

If properly maintained the Xcalibur Floorcare System will enhance and protect the appearance of both new and old flooring for years to come, making it easier to clean and safer underfoot. As the floor coating becomes worn you can easily restore its appearance without the need to ever strip it back*.

* Unless the floor is subjected to heavy wear and damage outside of normal use.
