Labfors 5 with LabCIP: Cleaning and sterilisation at the push of a button

INFORS HT is launching the Labfors 5 with LabCIP, the first self-cleaning and self-sterilizing benchtop bioreactor in the world.

The LabCIP feature allows the Labfors 5 benchtop bioreactor to be cleaned and sterilized automatically overnight. This minimises the downtime and increases the throughput up to two-fold.

INFORS HT is launching the Labfors 5 with LabCIP, the first self-cleaning and self-sterilizing benchtop bio-reactor throughout the world. The LabCIP feature cleans and sterilizes the benchtop bioreactor automatically (e.g. over-night). This minimises the down-time of the bioreactor and increases the time available for research.

“The LabCIP is our prime example of a product that was developed in close co-operation with one of our customers”, says Daniel Egger, who is the Marketing Manager of INFORS HT. The idea was conceived during a discussion with a customer: A benchtop bioreactor for micro-organisms that offers the advantages of a single-use solution, but can, in addition, be operated in a sustained and inexpensive manner.

“The result is revolutionary and improved our daily laboratory routine significantly”, comments Dr. Alvar Gossert, who is a Research Investigator of Novartis AG. “Using the Labfors 5 with LabCIP, we managed to double the number of protein expressions from 8 to 16 per week. This allowed us to significantly increase the speed of the drug discovery process and gain a significant advantage over our competitors”.
