Unconditional Parts Warranty Extended To Five Years
Underlining its confidence in the quality and durability of its products, leading treatment couch manufacturer Plinth 2000 is extending its unconditional three-year warranty on components to five years, across all models.
This is on top of its no-quibble lifetime guarantee on the frame, making this an unbeatable customer reassurance package. With the option of extending the component warranty for a further five years, under a separate Plinth cover plan, this provides protection against the cost of repairs caused by electrical or mechanical breakdown for a full ten years, ensuring an excellent return on investment (ROI) for private healthcare practitioners and NHS departments.Unique to the UK marketplace, Suffolk-based Plinth 2000 owns and controls its complete design and manufacturing process and over the years has built up a source of dependable component suppliers. Indeed, a recent analysis of product servicing and repairs revealed an equipment failure rate of <1% and an average service life of 16 years, with some couches lasting twenty years or more.
This excellent performance prompted Plinth 2000 to underline its product reliability record and differentiate itself from market competitors, by extending its warranty period to 5 years. With cheaper imported treatment couches frequently offering only a 12-month guarantee, often with little or no provision for spares and servicing, the cost of ownership calculation tends to favour Plinth 2000, whose purchase prices can be amortised over all five years, or ten years with the optional extended cover. There is also a ‘green’ angle, in that the longer product lifespan reduces the overall carbon footprint and the amount of redundant material going to landfill.
“For private practitioners and budget-conscious NHS customers, the prospect of no repair costs for five years and minimal equipment downtime due to breakdowns should be very appealing,” says Plinth 2000’s MD, Niall Dyer. “Many imported treatment couches are simply not built to last and key components like linear motors will not lift the specified working load, leading to sudden failures with patients on board. At that point, a saving on the purchase price is revealed as a false economy.
“Recently, one of our long-standing customers was lured by an attractive price deal into buying an import,” he adds. “But within nine months, he found that the cost of replacing already worn-out upholstery was prohibitive, because of the unusual design and construction, so he scrapped that couch and returned to Plinth 2000.”
Although wear and tear damage to the upholstery is not covered by the warranty, due to the possibility of negligence and harsh treatment, Plinth 2000 has gone to considerable lengths to minimise possible upholstery problems. It has upgraded its leather-grain vinyl upholstery to the highest specification, which is durable, flame retardant and abrasion resistant to 100,000 plus rubs, with no tendency to show white scuff marks. The company also offers an upholstery replacement service and its couches are fitted with concealed bolts for quick and easy removal and refixing of standard tops across all models, with older equipment upgraded to the latest vinyl specification.
Plinth 2000’s 5-year warranty deal was launched at the recent Arab Health 2013, where it was well received by stand visitors, especially as it has been extended immediately to around fifty countries, where the products are already exported.
