Demanding Cable Solutions in the London Underground

In the event of an emergency on an underground transportation network it is critical that passengers are able to be safely evacuated. The evacuation route is typically by means of lifts and escalators, making them a critical area for safety. Habia Cable has received the prestigious contract to supply high quality cables to the London Underground system for use on the lifts and escalators.

Cables for the Most Critical Applications

Using our approved range of materials and constructions Habia Cable has carved a niche in the most safety critical areas of the London Underground Limited business.  Offering a range of signal, control and power cables approved to the intensely demanding 1-085 fire specification, Habia Cable is the cable supplier of choice to the lift and escalator segment.  This is viewed as one of the most safety critical areas on an underground transportation system as they provide the means of escape in case of an emergency.

Underground Wire and Cable Materials and Approvals for London Underground (LUL)
Habia Cable''s materials HFI 140 and HFS 80 are all tested and approved to LUL specification 1-085 for fire, smoke and toxicity (formerly E 1042).

Habia Cable has made a name in the underground market by offering LUL compliant cables that are small and light-weight (giving reductions in cable-tray sizes and significant benefits for space-critical applications). This also means that you can often install the cables in existing spaces sometimes without removing old wiring; installation times have demonstrably been reduced by as much as 50%.

“Our custom design ethos means we can offer genuine multicore constructions where almost any arrangement of cores and screens can be designed, all to meet the demanding requirements of Section 12 applications”, says Brian Dempster, Business Development Manager at Habia Cable.
