Haven Holiday Park, Burnham on Sea − RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing

A new swimming pool has been built at Haven Holiday Park, Burnham on Sea, Somerset. Ronacrete Approved Contractor Avalon Surfacing were commissioned to install 260 square metres of RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing to the pathways leading to the entrance.

Main contractor H & B 2000 Ltd was commissioned to build the new swimming pool at the holiday park. New paths were laid to give access to the building and H & B 2000 contracted Avalon Surfacing to pave the paths with a resin bound surfacing system.

Avalon surfacing first installed a layer of macadam to provide a firm base for the RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing, which was then mixed and applied to the paths.  The aggregate blend used was Quartz Parallel.

The RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing system was supplied as a two component UV stable polyurethane resin together with the Quartz Parallel aggregate. The two resin components were mixed by Avalon with a drill and paddle before being added to the coloured aggregate in a high capacity forced action mixer. As soon as the aggregate was fully coated with resin, the mixed material was discharged from the mixer and trowel applied at a thickness of 15mm onto the prepared surface.

Avalon had to be quick and efficient to ensure that the paths were ready for the start of the holiday season. The system was laid over a weekend prior to the pool opening on the Monday. The RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing system is ready for foot traffic within four hours of being laid.

The finished product provides Haven Holidays with a durable surfacing that is porous (SuDS compliant); this permeability prevents pooling of surface water. The RonaDeck resin is unaffected by ultra-violet light, so the paths will not yellow or darken over time.
