Emco Wheaton appoints new Engineering Manager as part of North American growth plans
They may be good news for the consumer, but falling oil prices mean that manufacturers in the fluid transfer industry must improve design processes, procedures and product quality to retain competitive advantage. To enhance its technical and design capabilities and further strengthen its position as a leader in this highly competitive market, Emco Wheaton has appointed Daniel Gheorghiu as Supervisor of Engineering Services in Canada.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, Daniel brings over twenty years’ experience in technical design and mechanical engineering to the new role. He will lead the Canadian engineering team in the design and development of products and systems that set new standards in reliability, efficiency and performance.“The opportunity to join Emco Wheaton was one I simply couldn’t turn down,” said Daniel. “It is an exciting time for the company and I am very happy to be a part of a growing team as we sustain our position in existing markets while fuelling our expansion into new ones.”
Daniel started his career as a mechanical design engineer in his native Romania before moving to Canada in 2001. Here he completed his education and worked in product development before playing a key role in the design and co-ordination of the Vertical Helix Ancillary Machine − an engineering feat that utilises an un-opposed cantilever design nearly 165’ tall to manufacture umbilical cables for subsea drilling.
His experience in product development and technical design will help Emco Wheaton to expand its existing wide range of loading arms and associated equipment for the transportation, oil, gas and chemical industries.
He added: “Utilising my technical and design expertise, I’m looking forward to being actively involved in all aspects of the engineering process. With more standardised processes and only small adjustments to testing procedures, we can deliver improved efficiencies and projects that run smoothly from start to finish.”
Emco Wheaton continues to strengthen its global technical team with the appointment of a highly experienced designer and engineer. As the oil and gas market becomes more competitive than ever, having a strong engineering team is vital as the company looks to the future and continues to drive the business forward.
