Cambridge Theatre
Located in Covent Garden, the Cambridge Theatre was built in 1930 and has been a Grade II listed building since 1999. It has hosted dozens of hit shows including Grease, Fame and Chicago and it is currently home to the multi award-winning show Matilda the Musical.
It is owned Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Theatre Company.Early in 2015, the theatre’s management realised they needed to carry out an essential survey of the ceiling. Unfortunately,
due to the extremely narrow corridors, this usually means erecting internal scaffolding which would close the theatre for
about a week, causing a substantial loss in box office revenue.
Looking for a more cost-effective alternative they called in Rapid Platforms. Following a detailed survey and a ‘dry run’ on a Monday, the only day the theatre is usually closed, we were able to successfully manoeuvre our CTE T230 tracked spider into position. This meant the essential survey was carried out in one day with reduced disruption to the theatre and no loss of revenue at the box office. “Thanks to your team for getting the machine into the Cambridge Theatre, it proved invaluable for surveying the ceiling. We will need it again soon for some planned repairs.”
