10th Anniversary

15 January 2016 | Lumasense Technologies GmbH

Happy New Year!

LumaSense Technologies, a leading provider of temperature and gas sensing solutions, celebrated its 10th Anniversary in late 2015.

Since then, we’ve been sharing the history of each of the brands that make us the company we are today.

On Feb 9, 2007, LumaSense acquired IMPAC through its acquisition of Mikron Infrared.

IMPAC was founded in 1958 and is an industry leader in temperature measurement using infrared technology. IMPAC is best known for its infrared thermometers or pyrometers.

The key benefit to using a pyrometer to measure temperature is that you do not have to make contact with the process or surface being measured. This is especially useful when traditional contact measurement is impractical or may introduce contamination. Measuring molten steel, which would normally melt traditional thermocouples, is a good example. Glass, semiconductor, and research are other industries that commonly make use of pyrometers, but the possibilities are limitless.

IMPAC pyrometers are well known for their accuracy and dependability in the harshest environments. The IMPAC Series 8 pyrometer celebrated its 30th year in production! The IGA 140-TV was launched into space on a JAXA (Japan Aerospace) mission to help scientists gather temperature data in zero-gravity. Last year, we introduced the ISR 6-TI Advanced, the world’s first industrial grade infrared pyrometer with thermal imaging capabilities.
