£20,000 Fine For Sheffield Signage Company After 5 Metre Fall From Height.

The courts have ordered Sheffield signage company, Warburton Signs Limited to pay a £20,000 fine plus costs of £1538 due to their failure to put in place measures to prevent a fall from height.

Chesterfield Magistrates’ court heard how 3 workers of the Sheffield based signage company were fitting a large sign to the gable end of an industrial building. The fitters accessed a neighbouring flat roof to fit the sign. One of the three workers fell 5 metres from the roof sustaining life threatening injuries. Injuries included a fractured skull, several broken ribs, a collapsed lung and chipped vertebra.

Warburton Signs Limited were investigated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the incident that occurred on 13th April 2015, and were found to have failed to put in place the appropriate measures to prevent a fall from height.

At CSS Worksafe, we offer many varieties of temporary fall protection systems for roofs including horizontal lifeline systems that will provide fall restraint for those working at height.

As well as providing the best height safety equipment, CSS can also train your employees with the correct use of safety equipment, helping to reduce the risks associated to working at height.
