Zip Heaters UK has installed 14 Chillmaster floor standing, point of use water chiller units into the state-of-the-art Bournville College development in Birmingham.

Spanning 4.2 acres and serving 15,000 students, the BREEAM rated education facility opened its doors for the first time in September 2011. During the design and specification stages of this contemporary energy efficient building, the decision was taken to install market leading Chill-master from Zip Heaters UK, to further enhance the energy saving credentials of the overall project.

The site was once the Longbridge Rover factory, the largest manufacturing plant in the world. The 468 acre site produced cars and aeroplanes for almost 100 years and played a fundamental role in the production of munitions during the Second World War.

Zip Chillmaster keeps students cool

Servicing the busy gymnasium and communal areas, Zip Chillmaster floor-standing chillers offer a continual supply of filtered and chilled drinking water to students. The Chillmaster units have all been installed using a specifically designed anti-vandalism kit which affixes the body of the chiller to the wall and floor, concealing the water and electricity connections. In an educational setting such as Bournville College, the use of this specific installation kit can achieve a point under the HEA16 BREEAM category for drinking water.

Zip On-going maintenance

Going forward, Bournville College will benefit from an on-going maintenance agreement which provides a multitude of benefits, including the convenience of a 24/48 hour call-out response time as well as scheduled visits to clean the systems and change the filters. This means that any issues are dealt with quickly and professionally and most importantly, it gives the College the guarantee that any work carried out complies with the legal requirements for the sanitisation of drinking wa-ter in the UK.

With a first time fix rate of 98%, the Zip maintenance agreement offers the benefit of a fixed cost agreement that allows many commercial and public sector buildings to budget easily with no addi-tional or unexpected expense.
