Pingles leisure centre swimming pool conditioning
Run by Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Councils, Pingles Leisure Centre’s swimming pool was first installed in 1963 but has been continually updated with new plant.
The 33 metre pool is used throughout the year by the general public, swimming clubs, and schools as well as for aquarobics. In 1993 their Engineering Manager, Steve Webster installed a ENiGMA Olympic Electronic Pool Conditioning System. During the first nine months the pool water was more regularly tested for bacteria, but despite a 50% reduction in the use of calcium hypochlorite (saving the leisure centre £40 per week) the disinfectant levels remained unaffected at 1.8 ppm.
In addition, staff at the leisure centre noted that the black ring around the edge of the swimming pool, caused by body fats, was far easier to remove and the water remained crystal clear even during peak-loading times.
Steve Webster commented: "I didn't believe the ENiGMA would perform exactly as the manufacturers stated nor that it would be so easy to use. However, it is very much a fit and forget device which fulfils all its claims".
Nuneaton & Bedworth District Councils have seen a quick pay back on the unit and are now considering fitting another ENiGMA Olympic on the Leisure Centre's teaching pool.
