Resin Bound for seating area and pathways at nursery in Hampshire
Addagrip approved contractor E. Williams Landscapes Ltd was invited to install areas of Addabound Resin Bound surfacing and our innovative Terrabase Rustic Resin Bound surfacing for Shallowmead Nurseries, located on the edge of the New Forest, Hampshire.
The client was looking to create a large outdoor seating area and pathways around the show garden which would look natural but solid enough for safe and easy access by visitors. The seating area and steps were created using Addabound, our Resin Bound system with recycled content, in a 6mm Oyster blend with metal edging and composite decking risers for the steps.
The pathways are constructed from our patented Terrabase Rustic Resin Bound surfacing system in a Rustic Gold blend. The edges are formed from both metal and block edging, which helps to create separate areas around the water feature, artificial lawn and planting which are connected by the uniformity of the Terrabase Rustic pathways. As some of the site consisted of made-up ground, it was also important to ensure that a porous material for the pathway was used to assist with transporting excess rainwater away from the show garden. Terrabase Rustic installed onto an MOT Type 3 sub-base provided maximum porosity, allowing water to drain through quickly and negate surface water.
The client was particularly impressed with how the colours for the Addabound and Terrabase Rustic systems complemented the composite decking and porcelain paving areas of the garden and provided interesting changes in textures. The result is decorative, low maintenance, durable pathways and surfaced areas with good anti-slip properties to allow safe and easy access to the garden all year round.
