Newton Proud Double Award Winners

Following a record number of entries in this year’s Kent Excellence in Business Awards, we were one of only two companies to win two awards, taking home Medium Business of the Year and the Commitment to the Environment award.


Now in its 10th year the KEiBA gala event at the Kent Showground in Detling was attended by more than 650 people, making it the county’s biggest business event of the year and a great opportunity for business networking. The team thoroughly enjoyed the evening and winning two categories from the record 329 entries is testament to the expertise, hard work and innovation that goes into developing our waterproofing and damp proofing solutions, as well as our commitment to the environment with our membrane recycling scheme, the Newton plastic pledge and our sustainable product range - Newton 508 Floor and 520 eco membrane are manufactured from 100% recycled materials and we hope to expand this range.

Winning is a big deal and we are proud of this recognition, the rigorous judging process includes a comprehensive written entry and supporting material, judging is by a panel of independent business experts, each element is given a weighting, and the shortlist of 6 are drawn up based on these scores. Judges then visit shortlisted entrants at their premises to carry more in depth investigation through face to face interviews, and the 3 finalists are selected and judged by all the judges with the winner revealed on the night.

Our entry had to demonstrate outstanding performance, commercial success and strategy for growth whilst achieving excellence in innovation, sharing the details of schemes, initiatives, policies and projects that improve environmental performance, trends in business turnover and profit, the quantifiable beneficial impact of these schemes on the environment as well as the wider community and finally our vision for the future/objectives for business growth and environmental performance over the next 3 years.

We hope this commitment to excellence will ensure we stand out from our competitors and continue to operate for another 170 years.
