Venesta are the 1st UK washroom panel manufacturer to eliminate all board waste to landfill.
The environmental impacts of the manufacturing and construction industries have long been viewed as a problem,
But leading global washroom manufacturer, Venesta, is challenging that perception after unveiling their on-site biomass burning facility. The 120-year old washroom panel manufacturer has revealed how they achieved an industry first, of 0% board waste to landfill in just 2 y¬ears.
With a £1M investment, Venesta installed a 1.75MW biomass burning facility at their manufacturing site in Stoke-On-Trent, UK, where waste is made up of MDF, high pressure laminate and solid grade laminate panel board offcuts.
As well as achieving their remarkable landfill target, once the waste is burnt, there is enough energy generated to independently heat their entire factory and office buildings.
“Like all UK manufacturing businesses we are extremely conscious of our environmental CSR. It is our aim to continually review ways we can reduce any damaging effects on the environment from our business’ processes and we’re extremely proud that this investment has enabled us to take such a step forward.” Jodie Kemp, Commercial Director.
With the construction industry responsible for producing almost 136 million tonnes of waste in 2016, it is manufacturers like Venesta, who can encourage waste management in the early stages of the supply chain and provide inspiration on how to put waste to good use.
